Many people believe formatting the drive will result in complete destruction of
its contents. Actually that is not so. The matter is when you delete sensitive
files or format a hard disk your operating system does not erase the contents -
it only deletes the information regarding the files location instead. It means
that your confidential information still resides on your hard drive and can be
easily recovered with data recovery software.
The only way not to have problems with the data you thought was deleted is using
wiping solution. Doing so you:
-Prevent identity theft
-Make sure nobody recovers your deleted information
-Prevent your sensitive information such as financial records, passwords and
other confidential documents from falling into the wrong hands
